When Art Finds New Spaces
What happens when contemporary art leaves the traditional gallery space and encounters the atmosphere of a historic Zurich villa? From September, Karma International will present a new exhibition at Villa zum Mythenstein. An encounter between international art, distinctive architecture and a place that tells stories of its own.

Karma International was founded in Zurich in 2009 by Marina Olsen and Karolina Dankow. What began with artists of their own generation has evolved over the years into an international program featuring diverse artistic approaches and generations. Today, the gallery is present at international art fairs and collaborates with artists, museums, and collectors worldwide.
Personal interaction and ongoing support for the artists are at the heart of this work. Especially today, when art is visible and accessible practically everywhere through digital media, personal relationships and the context in which a work is actually experienced are becoming increasingly important.
The Villa zum Mythenstein now adds a new context to this. Instead of gallery walls, the works encounter historic rooms, architecture, and the villa’s unique atmosphere. This shifts the perspective: art is not presented in isolation here, but enters into a relationship with its surroundings and can be rediscovered time and again.
A First Look at the Exhibition
The cover image of this article offers a first glimpse: «Evergreen» (2026) by Zurich-based artist Urban Zellweger. Karma International has been supporting Zellweger’s work for many years. His paintings blend everyday and biographical impressions with a surreal, dreamlike visual world.
The other works that will be on display at the villa in September will be revealed at the opening reception on September 24. On that day, together with Karma International, we’ll open the doors to a new exhibition and an evening dedicated entirely to contemporary art.
